I looove Claudine and totally agree with what you said. I just went to a screening in theaters for it's 50th anniversary. Was great to see it on the big screen. Also recently watched Drylongso and loved it.
I’ll always love “Soul Food” (and Girlfriends, and Living Single, and A Different World) for being about people and family. The stories are more textured because the characters are black. But that’s not what drives the narrative or makes it interesting. Would love more along this line.
