I'm looking forward to watching Naked Acts. I'd love to see it added to the Criterion Collection. So much of Black film history is lost or forgotten. I'm still discovering more of Oscar Micheaux's work. Thanks again for your admirable mission to resurrect and keep our cinematic history alive.
Favorite has to be Losing Ground, Kathleen Collins—desperately wished we could have gotten more feature work from her, but she definitely left us a beautiful piece of cinema.
Was blessed to watch Naked Acts when it arrived to BAM last year. Very rarely do you find a film that makes the darkest part of your shadow feel seen. Truly grateful for its essential existence and hope to share it with as many people as I can
Fav film: A Different Image (1982) by Alile Sharon Larkin
<3 Nya, what a lovely message. I'm so glad you had the chance to see Naked Acts in cinemas! How major. Thank you, thank you. A DIFFERENT IMAGE is also one of my favorite films!!!
Added Naked Acts to my watchlist a few weeks ago after watching To Sleep With Anger. Been on a journey to ID-ing Black Auteurs and their "signatures"! My favorite film by a Black Woman is "Tender" by Felicia Pride; a short but impactful film for me.
Watched Naked Acts for the first time a couple weeks ago and I'm still thinking about it!! (One of) my favorite films directed by a woman is Banel & Adama (2023) by Ramata-Toulaye Sy
